What is Kybella?
If you have a double chin that’s affecting your self-confidence, there is a solution – Kybella. A treatment that Dr. Schalit offers, this nonsurgical injectable is used to target the stubborn submental fat beneath the chin. FDA approved, the extraordinary treatment comprises of deoxycholic acid injections being injected under the chin that will help to break down the fat.
After an initial consultation, it will be determined exactly where the Kybella should be injected. The Kybella treatment will be individually tailored to your unique requirements so that your chin profile will be improved over time.
A great alternative to a surgical double chin reduction, a typical Kybella treatment will take approximately 15-20 minutes to perform. Once the treatment is complete, one of our office staff members will take a picture, so that you can compare the results over time. Results can be seen from a Kybella injection between 4-6 weeks following the treatment.
Following a Kybella treatment, there is no downtime. Therefore, you can continue with your normal routine following it. However, it is likely that you will experience mild to moderate swelling around the chin area between 2-3 days after the treatment.

How Does Kybella Work?
Dr Schalit, who is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery will carefully inject the Deoxycholic acid beneath the chin. This is a bile acid, which is naturally produced by the body that will help to absorb the fat. The Kybella injections themselves use a synthetic form of this acid within the injection. After several treatments, the area will be unable to store fat anymore.
Ahead of the procedure, Dr. Schalit will mark exactly where the Kybella injections will be applied. A topical numbing agent will then be administered to aid any discomfort. The number of treatment sessions will vary from person to person, and multiple treatments may be required to obtain optimal results. However, typically, you will be able to receive up to six Kybella treatments with a break of up to 4 weeks between each session.

Is Kybella Permanent?
One of the most common questions patients have regarding Kybella treatments is whether the results are permanent. And although it may take up to 6 treatments to see a significant change, once these are complete fat loss is permanent. Of course, to experience long term results it is important to maintain your current weight and exercise regime.
