Do you ever look in the mirror and wonder why you look tired when you’re actually well-rested and refreshed? If so, you’re not alone. The natural process of aging can lead to drooping eyes and excess skin in the eye area, making you look older than you really are. With a blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery, you can resolve these issues and achieve a rejuvenated appearance in the eyes. If you’re intrigued by this procedure but wondering about the recovery process, read on.

*Individual results may vary.

What to Expect From the Recovery Process

Right after eyelid surgery, Dr. Schalit will apply ice to your incisions and send you home to rest. You will have sutures in your upper eyelid area, which he will remove at your initial 1 week follow-up appointment.

Dr. Schalit will recommend that you steer clear of heavy lifting and intense physical activity for a couple of weeks. You’ll be able to return to work and social activities as soon as your swelling and bruising has subsided and you’re comfortable going out in public. Usually after 7 days.

It’s important to note that just like any surgery, a blepharoplasty does come with some side effects. These include swelling, bruising, soreness, dry eyes, or challenges closing your eyes. Fortunately, most patients report that side effects are very tolerable and subside quickly on their own.

While your final results will appear after about three months, you can enjoy complete results in about six months.

Why Undergo Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid surgery may be the ultimate treatment if you’re ready to resolve a tired, aged appearance. It’s a particularly good option if you’d like to open up your eyes and appear more vibrant and alive. Eyelid surgery may also improve your vision in the event excess skin on your upper eye makes it difficult for you to see.

Best of all, eyelid surgery can boost your self confidence and bring you back to the youthful eyes you may have had in the past. During a consultation, Dr. Schalit can let you know whether you’re a good candidate for this procedure.

Decided that I needed or wanted an improvement in my eye bags. So I had transconjuntive Bleph in lower eyelids and skin resurfacing in that area also, Consultation went well and decided to add Juvaderm lip injections and some botox. Just had my procedure this morning and all went well. I am icing and following cleaning instructions, pain not bad. Will update as I move forward.
