Microneedling stimulates the skin to produce collagen, which leads to improvement in lines, wrinkles, scars, and blemishes, as well as loose skin and enlarged pores. The microneedling treatment starts a process of skin rejuvenation that will continue to improve for weeks after treatment.

How Does Microneedling Work?
Microneedling uses a roller covered in tiny needles. As the roller passes over the skin, the needles create little areas of micro-damage, so small you will usually not even be able to see them after treatment. However, each tiny area of damage tells the surrounding skin to begin a healing and renewal process.
The skin around the micro-injury produces healing and growth factors, which tells the cells to greatly increase their collagen production. Collagen gives skin lift, firmness, and support. It declines with age, but treatments like microneedling can restore it and return more youthful-looking skin.
Microneedling combines well with a wide variety of other treatments, especially serums and other topical products. The skin has been primed to absorb these products more effectively. A member of Dr. Schallit’s staff will make sure the products will work safely on your newly treated skin.
People often think of a needle roller and assume pain must be involved. However, with a topical anesthetic applied to the skin, most people feel nothing much at all during treatment.
How Much Does Microneedling Cost?
Microneedling sessions can average between $200 and $700, although this depends on your area, the type of microneedling, and other factors. Keep in mind that most people will need several treatments to achieve desired results.

What are the Benefits of Microneedling?
Benefits of microneedling include:
- Diminished lines and wrinkles
- Improved skin tone and texture
- Faded hyperpigmentation
- Smaller pores
- Decreased sun damage
Your benefits become visible a few days after treatment and will continue to improve for several weeks. Improvement continues even after your last session. You will need to return for a maintenance session if you wish to keep your results longer than four to five months.
Is There Any Downtime With Microneedling?
Your skin might look irritated and red for a day or two after the procedure. However, you can still return to your normal routine. Just make sure to wear sunscreen at all times and stay out of the sun as much as possible while your skin heals.
Am I a Good Candidate for Microneedling?
People of all skin types and tones can have microneedling. However, people who have recently taken certain kinds of medications, such as retinoids, should not have this treatment.
